Starch-based controlled release matrix tablets: Impact of the type of starch
نویسندگان
چکیده
Different types of starches were used to prepare controlled release tablets loaded with diprophylline by direct compression. The impact the natural origin starch, potential chemical modifications (e.g., cross-linking phosphate or adipate, hydroxypropylation, acetylation different degrees, partial hydrolysis) and type pre-gelatinization process (laboratory scale ethanol oven drying versus industrial drum drying) on resulting drug kinetics studied. Texture analysis hydrogels created upon exposure medium, optical scanning electron microscopy as well X-ray powder diffraction measurements better understand observations. Also, a “quick test” using texture analyzer rapidly estimate capacity specific starch control rate was proposed. Two hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC K100 M LV) studied for reasons comparison. Interestingly, allowed detect differences in mechanical strength formed contact aqueous fluids, which correlated observed patterns from when measured USP III (“Bio’-Dis”) apparatus at 30 rpm. However, not very much affected investigated basket 75 This can be attributed lower stress experienced under these conditions. Furthermore, caution must paid studying types, are pre-gelatinized laboratory precipitation drying. obtained granules have significantly key properties compared drying, substantially patterns.

Hydroxypropyl Starch Nanoparticles as Controlled Release
Hydroxypropyl starch was synthesized by modified sago starch with hydroxypropylation reaction. Hydroxypropyl starch nanoparticles with mean particle sizes of 110 nm are obtained by controlled precipitation through the drop-wise addition of dissolved hydroxypropyl starch solution into excess absolute ethanol. Piperine was loaded onto hydroxypropyl starch nanoparticles and native starch nanoparti...
متن کاملPreparation and characterization of a novel starch-based interpolyelectrolyte complex as matrix for controlled drug release.
A novel cationized starch-based interpolyelectrolyte complex (IPEC) was formed using kappa-carrageenan as the counter polyion. Characterization of the product by turbidity measurements and elemental analyses indicated a 1:1 interaction of the repeating units. FT-IR spectra for the IPEC showed some differences in comparison with either IPEC constituents or physical mixture. The swelling of table...
متن کاملSustained release matrix tablets prepared from cospray dried mixtures with starch hydrophobic esters.
In this work, starch acetate and propanoate derivatives with moderate degree of substitution were synthesized and characterized for employment as matrix formers for sustained release from tablets. Matrix tablets were prepared from cospray-dried and simple physical mixtures of starch/starch derivatives and theophylline as a model drug. The release was rapid for matrix tablets prepared from simpl...

Extended release formulation of alfuzosin, an a-antagonist used for prostatic hypertrophy, is available in market. It is convenient for older patients to take only one tablet a day. Marketed alfuzosin formulation is three layered geomatrix tablet that requires special facilities, high cost, more time and complex operation than normal direct compression formulation. Therefore, a less compl...
